Write your name and what you will bring. Cold dishes in a cool box, please: food should not sit out for more than 2 hours.
Making the sheet
Give the sheet a title, date and place, then set the categories and how many spots each one needs: four mains and five sides suits a group of about twenty. Rename, reorder or remove categories with the buttons beside them. Tick the allergens column if guests should note nuts, gluten or a vegan dish.
Print it blank for people to write on, or type names straight into the spots and press Copy as text to post an up-to-date list in your group chat. Choose US Letter or A4 so the sheet fits your printer's paper. Everything stays in this browser.
A smoother potluck
Ask everyone to label their dish and bring a serving spoon. Cold salads and desserts should stay cold until they are eaten, and the USDA advises that food should not be left out of the fridge for more than 2 hours, or 1 hour above 90 °F (32 °C), so plan a cool box or a shady spot and clear away leftovers in good time.
Roughly one dish per three to five guests overall, weighted towards mains and sides. Ten guests might cover two mains, three sides, two desserts and drinks.
Will it fit on one page?
Up to about twenty spots fit on one Letter or A4 page; longer sheets carry on onto a second page without splitting a category.
Can guests fill it in online?
This page lives in your browser, so others cannot edit your copy. Fill in names as people reply, then share the copied text.
